He argues that speech is a mechanical art involving the precise coordination of the vocal cords, tongue, and lips, which can be taught through tactile and visual methods. The book provides a detailed methodology for teaching deaf individuals how to perceive vocal vibrations and imitate articulatory movements to produce intelligible speech.
