Gürün'de Ölüm: İnanç ve Uygulamalar;Death in Gurun: Beliefs And Practices

Bu kitap, Mayıs 2022-Mayıs 2023 tarihleri arasında, Sivas'ın Gürün ilçesine bağlı Yolgeçen ve Güldede köylerindeki ölüm ritüellerinin sembollere dayanarak incelendiği etnografik bir alan çalışmasından oluşmaktadır. Katılımcı gözlem yöntemi ve derinlemesine görüşme formu yardımıyla gözlem yapılan toplumda ölüme dair inanmalar, kaçınmalar ve ritüeller incelenmiştir. Görüşülen kişilerin söyledikleri, örnekler halinde çalışmaya eklenmiştir. Toplanan veriler sonucunda ölüm; ölüm öncesi, ölüm anı ve ölüm sonrası olarak üç döneme ayrılmıştır. Ölüm öncesinde, ölüme dair inanma ve kaçınmalara yer verilmiştir. Ölüm anı ve sonrasında ise yas tutma süreci başlığı altında yapılan ritüeller aktarılmıştır. Ölüm öncesine dair inanışların temelinde ölüm korkusu ve merak duygusunun yattığı saptanmıştır. Ölüm anında ve sonrasındaki yas tutma sürecinde yapılan ritüeller ahiret inancı bağlamında tartışılmıştır. Bütün bu inanma ve ritüeller, araştırılan toplumun kültürünün kendi kuralları ve yorumları çerçevesinde geliştiği için topluma özgü olduğu görülmüştür. İngilizce This book consists of an ethnographic field study conducted between May 2022 and May 2023, examining death rituals through the lens of symbols in the Yolgeçen and Güldede villages of Sivas's Gürün district. Using participant observation and in-depth interviews, the study investigates the beliefs, avoidances, and rituals surrounding death in the observed community. Statements from the interviewees have been included in the study as examples. Based on the collected data, death has been divided into three phases: pre-death, the moment of death, and post-death. The pre-death phase details the beliefs and avoidances associated with death. For the moment of death and the post-death phase, the rituals performed are described under the heading of the mourning process. It has been determined that the fear of death and a sense of curiosity lie at the foundation of pre-death beliefs. The rituals performed at the moment of death and during the subsequent mourning process are discussed within the context of the belief in the afterlife. Because all these beliefs and rituals developed within the framework of the researched community's own cultural rules and interpretations, they are observed to be unique to that society.
