Özet Benedetto Croce'nin bu başyapıtı, estetiği yalnızca güzel sanatlarla sınırlı bir alan olmaktan çıkarıp, insan zihninin "sezgisel bilgi" üretme süreci olarak tanımlar. Croce, sanatın fiziksel bir nesne değil, zihinsel bir "anlatım" (ekspresyon) olduğunu savunur. Yazara göre sezgi ve anlatım özdeştir; bir sanatçı içsel sezgisini zihninde tam olarak biçimlendirdiği an sanat eseri tamamlanmış sayılır.
