This book provides a unified, first‐principles treatment of the physics that gov‐erns the design, behaviour, and operation of ships. It is intended for senior undergraduate and early postgraduate students in naval architecture, marine engineering, and ocean science, and assumes familiarity with single‐variable calculus, introductory mechanics, and basic thermodynamics.
