When examining the period from past to present using a genealogical method, how has gender been approached? How do we perceive gender socially? I wonder why discussions about gender continue to be on the agenda. However, how should different genders be grasped? If we put aside bodies described differently from birth or infancy, how can we unravel the tangle of body and gender discourses? How can we evaluate the human body and existence amid these discourses? This study, in your hands, contains discussions that seek answers to all these questions. The theoretical framework of the discussions is formed by Michel Foucault and Judith Butler, who rose to prominence with their discourse analyses in the history of philosophy. To draw attention to the importance of the body despite prevailing discourses, this approach draws on the phenomenological and existential perspectives that emerge in Merleau-Ponty's philosophy.
